Attic Insulation

Service Overview
If you don’t have adequate attic insulation in your home a quarter of your heat is escaping through the roof. Attic insulation will help you save energy, money and the environment, keeping your house warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
Many houses in Ireland have either no insulation in the attic or are inadequately insulated. A €400 grant is now available under the Better Energy Homes Scheme towards the cost of attic insulation. Even if you have existing attic insulation, homes typically have 4 inches of fibreglass, you can avail of the grant to top up this insulation to the 12 inch level required under the Better Energy Homes Scheme. For more information on the grants available under the Better Energy Homes Scheme click here.
In addition to topping up fibreglass to 12 inches, in every attic, Hometherm do the following.
- Insulate your water tanks
- Insulate your attic hatches (including draught stripping),
- Insulate all exposed pipework
- Provide a safe access insulated walkway to the water tank
- Protect recessed lights from insulation.
Hometherm provide all of the above as part of quotations under the Better Energy Homes Scheme.
Many home owners avoid insulating their attic beacuse they use it to store everything from christmas decorations to those valuable and not so valuable items that they just don’t want to throw away!. With this in mind Hometherm can fit an insulated attic flooring area, which comprises of a sheet of silver expanded polystyrene insulation, bonded to chipboard sheets. The sheets sit on top of the joists in the attic to form an insulated floor for access and storage. Homeowners no longer have to compromise when it comes to insulating their attic space. Hometherm can offer insulation, safe attic access and flooring
